Have not done any pondering today. Went to LaGrange with my niece, her pharmacy schooling daughter, and her mother. We had the best time with each other. The young ones enjoyed the older ones and our gracefulness getting in and out of the car and stepping off the curbs. We had lots of laughs. I unfortunately laughed and got tickled at the Dairy Queen and probably could have used a little oxygen.
When we were ready to come home, I suggested we get a mini blizzard at the Dairy Queen. My treat! Course the slim and trim one couldn’t understand how we had room for ice cream after stuffing ourselves at the Mexican restaurant. She was sweet and treated us to lunch. I was smart, didn’t eat a lot at lunch, brought the leftovers home for supper, consciously leaving room for the blizzard.
All the way to the DQ sister-in-law wants to know what kinds they have to choose. We talk about the candy bar and Oreo choices. We get to the drive thru, she leans back almost wrenching her neck but she can’t read the choices so she settles on Oreo. The when we circle around, she sees the M & Ms one. She is crushed! She loves ice cream. I suggest she hop out, go inside, get the M & M blizzard, and we’d pick her up at the side door. “That’s okay.” she says sadly, “Oreo is fine.”
We get to the window to get our treats…slim one of course only gets a water, cute college daughter gets a small coffee mocha thingy blizzard, and sister-in-law and I get our mini blizzards. “Didn’t know it was this tiny!,” she says, obviously disappointed. “Ice cream is my favorite thing!” Course I lose it, high on life and the snickers blizzard. Laugh my self crazy.
Hope my niece explains to her daughter that I don’t get out much and that I’m on the waiting list for Shady Oaks.
Then all is quiet while we are eating. Sister-in-law enjoys her Oreos and quickly finishes. College girl and I eat a little slower, enjoying every bite.
Thank God the pedicure stop fell through! That would have ruined my blizzard!
