I was the the snowman builder.
Sitting in the swing listening to the wind chimes. I think today has the bluest sky I’ve ever seen. Brisk wind is stirring every so often but the sun on my face is hot. I’ve moved over to the swing that’s not in the sun but it’s cold on this side of the porch so in the house I go to the lady den. I have definitely been the lazy retired lady today. Need to do some preparation for my titty tatty this Saturday but….
Don’t know why, but I’m thinking about snowmen. Can’t remember building my last snowman but I remember the first one I built for my son Thomas. Have a photo of Thomas and Chief standing by the snowman. Don’t know why I built such a tall snowman. I was excited and by the expression on Thomas’s little face, he was excited, too.
From the Frosty the Snowman song, we’re told to decorate our snowman with a corncob pipe, button nose, coal eyes, and an old silk hat. My snowman has a farmer’s straw hat on and my scarf. Got a scary pitchfork, too. Looks like a few twigs of hair are falling out of his straw hat. Maybe this is a country snowman. I can remember making it like it was yesterday. Later we walked over the hill to Chief’s sister’s house and I built her daughter a snowman. Actually her daughter and I built a snowman family. I loved it! Need to find that photo, too.
I just remembered the last snowman I built. It was big! I put a Lego hat on its head. Took a photo of it sitting in the snow on Chief’s truck bed and it looked like a large creation. I sent a photo to Thomas and said look what I made! Then I sent a second photo with a sweetgum ball sitting right beside the little snowman. Looks can be deceiving. The snowman was the size of two sweetgum balls. The Lego hat should have given it away.
According to my oldest sister-in-law, January is the month of the snowman. She’s decorated her tables and mantle with snowmen and snowflakes. Re-did one of her Christmas trees in snowflakes and snowmen. I know its pretty! Got to ride up to the farm and check it out. She always sets a beautiful table. Her little granddaughter gets excited when she visits and sees all the seasonal decorations.
I looked up the definition of a snowman — an anthropomorphic snow sculpture of a man. That sounds scary!
The Alabama weather web site say there will be two days of snow, TWO, in January. One snowfall on Friday, January13th, and again on Saturday, the 14th. Course the amount of snowfall is 0.31 for Friday and 0.04 on Saturday. Snow on my titty tatty party day would be great! Course we all know this will be the forecast for our north Alabama friends and not us.
So don’t go out and buy toilet paper and bread and milk!
