God will flood your life with sunshine…

My grandsons, Emerson (at left) and Alexander, performed in their Christmas band concerts last night. I’m so proud of them and happy that my trumpet is being played in a band again. I played this trumpet in my high school band as did my youngest brother, my son, and now my grandson Emerson. My brothers still pick on me about the hay they baled in the hot summer heat to pay for the trumpet.

Drove up to Peachtree City yesterday to visit my oldest son and his family. My grandsons had their Christmas band concerts last night and I’m looking forward to my granddaughter Handley’s choir concert, Emerson’s basketball game, and celebrating Alexander’s 14th birthday this week. Lots of activities to make some wonderful memories with the grandchildren. We always have a good time, always lots of laughter! I brought some gingerbread house kits and even got one for me. The children and I are looking forward to Friday night and our house makings.

The drive here was so pretty, the day sunny with dark blue sky, highlighted with bleached white feather clouds. A large feather cloud floated in the sky in front of the car for many miles. I noticed a myriad of shades of brown, gray, and black on the trees that are stripped of their leaf cloaks. Some of the leafless trees are the color of owl feathers. Saw one maple tree in a crowd of pines that had still managed to stay dressed in a fall coat of many colors. So pretty against the green pine trees. I love how the light reflects through the slender trunks of the trees as you drive along, the moving shadows making me think the sun’s rays are playing the tree trunks like piano keys.

Don’t get to see the sunset here in Peachtree City and I missed Mother Nature’s painting and Father Sky’s kissing the sun goodnight, his hanging the moon and stars to wake the night. But this morning on the way to taking the children to school, I saw the sun rise and watched Mother Nature paint the clouds with watercolors of pink and purple. The clouds were rolled in little puffs, lilac-purple on top and rosey pink on the bottom. Then sun rose up in a firey yellow-orange chiffon gown and danced across the sky, her steps across the horizon so beautiful, dressing up the early morning sky with her court of purple and pink lady clouds in waiting, patiently watching her rise to light the day.

God’s love is like the sun. It’s always there and never changes. The sun’s light and heat make it possible to live on Earth. We need the sun to survive. We need God’s love and grace to live a fulfilling life. God knows all the trials and tribulations we face. Putting our trust in him helps us handle life’s difficult situations. We can be sure of our decisions when by prayers and faith we let God help us choose which path to tread. He always knows which way we should travel and when we trust that he knows best, he will help guide us down the correct path. If we have faith, our love for God will be a star that shines like the sun through everything we do.

Faith in God’s love also gives us hope. The thoughts of knowing the sun will rise again gives us expectations of another day on Earth. Faith in God and faith in the sun rising each day save us from the darkness. We don’t need to live in the darkness of troubles. Turn your worries over to God in prayer and God will flood your life with sunshine and help push the clouds of the storms away.

The sunrise is God’s greeting… the sunset his signature.” — Unknown
