Blue skies smile at me…

The sky is perfectly beautiful this morning, bluish purple clouds covering the horizon, lighter gray and radiant white clouds hurrying along in the high sky. It’s very chilly. I can feel a snow flake flurry on the wind but the clouds and Mother Nature just can’t connect today to make it happen. She’s dropping snow on our northern counties, maybe she’ll save a few flakes for us. It was really hard to describe the clouds today. They are not purple and not blue but maybe a grayish-purplish blue. I’m hoping they are full of snow flakes.

When I came in the house, I put my feeted pjs on over my clothes so I wouldn’t have to turn the heat up. Had trouble getting my foot in one side. There was a bra!, in the foot! Seriously, how can that happen in the washing machines? Not even going to expound on that!

Mother Nature tried to paint a beautiful backdrop for her sun set pageant this afternoon but the sun rolled quickly down the horizon on the coattails of Father Sky. All I saw was a brief sight of the train of her tangerine orange gown as she hurried down the horizon in a brief blaze of dark orange. She must have plans for the evening with Father Sky.

The clouds were in cahoots with the sun and managed to thwart Mother Nature’s watercolor painting. But I know the clouds didn’t dampen Mother Nature’s spirit when she pulled her brushes and watercolor palette out. She paints for God’s glory and honestly doesn’t care if we watch or not. I try to watch everyday and I’m amazed at the beauty that turns the day to night. Just think, no two sunsets are ever alike, the symphony of colors that shade the horizon, gifts from above to let us know the end is just as beautiful as the beginning.

Was thinking about the night sky, the velvet purple sky canopy that Father Sky decorates elegantly when he wakes the night. I think this quote by Willa Cather describes the night sky exquisitely. “The sky was a midnight blue, like warm deep blue water, and the moon seemed to lie on it like a water lily, floating forward with an invisible current.” She paints an alluring picture with her words. Describing the moon as a water lily is perfect.

Here’s another night quote I love. “The sky slowly pulled up its blue dress to reveal night,” Jonathan Safran Foer. I always think the sun turns out the day’s light when she rolls down the horizon and wakes the night, Father Sky pinning the moon and stars on the night sky. I think she’d be embarrassed to pull her dress up to reveal the night. But who knows… God has put all these wonderful gifts of nature in our world. How can you doubt his presence when you experience an exquisite sunset.

God’s love pursues us. He wants our attention and our love. We need to seek God through our prayers and call on him when we need comfort and peace. Seeking God’s guidance and wisdom can help us walk through life’s ups and downs. Prayer centers me and I believe prayers can move mountains when they are sincere and expressed with faith. Prayers, silent or spoken aloud, will bring you closer to God.

When we pray we are communicating with God, confessing our sins, asking him for our needs and desires, thanking him for the beauty of our life. Prayer keeps us thankful for every blessing God has given us. Psalm 79:9 says, “God always hears the prayers of his children and answers with what we need at the right time.”

“God is always seeking you. Every sunset. Every clear blue sky. Each ocean wave. The starry hosts of night. He blankets each new day with the invitation, ‘I am here.’” — Louie Giglio
