Beautiful spring day today, clear cloudless deep blue sky, warm bright sunshine. The birds were happily feeding on the feeders and on the ground around the poles. The gray squirrels, tails curled and chattering, played tag, chasing each other across the street from yard to yard, racing in circles around the old oak tree trunks. The buzzards were climbing the thermal wind’s staircase in the high sky, their silver wings tips glistening when they were kissed by the sun. The wind would occasionally gust and ping the wind chimes harshly. I love to hear the wind chimes’ tintinnabulations and try to figure out what song they are playing. Bumble bees and hummingbird wings added melodies to the yard symphony so I lay my head back on the swing chain and let the sun kiss my cheeks rosy.
Father Sky kept his cloud sketches put up today. He’s been stingy with his clouds lately. I waited in the porch swing to watch the sunset pageant while the sun sat on the top of the horizon gowned in a fiery ball of orange flames. Mother Nature painted the stage of sunset in layers of peach and aqua, wondrous hard candy colors to match the orange gown of the sun. As the sun set and darkness walked across the landscape, the color of the horizon deepened and burned out as the sun turned off the day’s light. Father Sky waked the moon and the stars and the night bloomed as day faded.
Read a quote today that I liked and thought about while I was pondering in the swing. “We must be willing to let go of the life we have planned, so as to have the life that is waiting for us,” E.M. Forster. Most of us have tried to plan our lives but life always get in the way and sidetracks us from our chosen path. God has planned our journey but he lets us choose how we navigate our path. Sometimes it’s an easy path to trod, the way well marked. Other times we face obstacles on our path and have difficulties walking. We walk through these trials and tribulations with God urging us onward. We follow God’s steps and eventually we walk back into the sunshine of his love and learn to trust God to show us the correct direction.
Christianity is not an easy path to trod but when we walk this journey we are walking with God. God wants us to travel through life with kindness, doing good for others, bringing others into his kingdom through our witness. Colossians 1:10-12 reads, “So to walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing him, bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God.”
Our faith is the most important part of our journey through life and God makes the journey possible. He will show us his chosen path and guide us when we step off in the darkness. With his heavenly assurance, we feel his grace and love and know we are not walking alone. Jesus said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life,” John 8:12. You walk with God and you’ll never walk alone.
“Don’t worry. God has gone before you and prepared the way. Keep walking.” —KWMinistries
