I had to clench my pearls…

Both of my day camp girls were here today. We cooked cinnamon rolls and bacon for breakfast and ate in the lady den. Actually I ate perched in the swing and they happily had breakfast in the lady den on their trays. We piddled the morning away laughing at silly songs and decided to get chicken fingers for lunch from Jacks. Roanoke’s Jacks has delicious chicken and the girls eat every bite but they NEVER get the sauce right even when I ask them to check the bag at the window. Today I had a “kiss my grits” come apart at the pick-up window. I told him I had been a few times lately with my grandchildren and they had gotten the order wrong every time!

Yeah, I could hold up the pick-up line and open the bag every time and claw all the sacks open and check the number of chicken fingers and check for all the cartons of sauce but I should not have to! As he handed me my order I said, “Please be sure the sauce is in the bag for the children.” He said, “You asked for extra honey mustard, right? It’s in the bag.” and I say, “No, I wanted two ranch and two honey mustard.” He assures me adamantly they are in the bag and I look in the bag and see two ranches and two other little packages of sauce so I apologize for my rudeness and head home ashamed the girls heard me act like a fool.

My precious girls on their first day at Patty Day Camp!

Lord help me, I had to clinch my pearls when I opened the bag when we got home and it had four ranches and no honey mustard. I’m not taking the blame! I was thankful one of my little campers said, “Patty, you got any honey mustard in a bottle?” Bless her heart! And thank God I did have some honey mustard!

I ordered separately, a three piece chicken finger snack with two honey mustards and a three piece chicken finger snack with two ranches. How hard is it to look at the order and not get it right?! We laughed that the order was messed up again but I was mad and fuming. I’m taking my apology back and if the chicken fingers weren’t delicious I would not go back!

I am going to bed now.

  1. I think I would have called them and asked to speak to the manager and I would have given him a piece of my mind

    • I just admitted defeat! Any hummingbirds? Think I’m going to take mine down and put regular bird feeders in their place. Back in my own bed tonight. Been sleeping on a twin bed in the grandchildren’s room this week. Happy night!

      • I don’t know if I’ve had any hummingbirds, been keeping my nieces twins for about 2 weeks and not at home to know. The twins are 3 months old and just now newborn size and HLA won’t have a place for them til August

      • I applaud you! I’m worn out from a 9 and 10 year old all week. I couldn’t pick those babies up and walk around with them. That’s wonderful you can help them out. Can’t imagine two babies atone time!! Enjoy your weekend!
