Unexpected twinkles of joy make magical moments…

“Let everything that has breath praise the Lord,” Psalm 150:6. Today was a glorious day to be alive and thankful for breath — dark blue sky, bright warm sunshine, songbirds singing around the neighborhood, squirrels fussing in the old oaks and tall magnolias, orange monarch and yellow sulphur butterflies dancing on the zinnias as a sky full of a loud honking geese pass overhead migrating south. Fall is in full swing and darkening her days earlier each evening.

The sunset was perfectly beautiful as Mother Nature emptied her crystal flute of pink champagne all across the horizon ending the day with wondrous pale diamond pink tints of color. Mother Nature is quite the woman, strong and talented with her paint brush and palette, furiously painting the leaves on the landscape of trees. Her sunset paintings are magnificent, too!

When I wasn’t bird watching or watching Kat eat another lizard I was reading in one of my quote books. One of my most favorite quotes today — “And above all, watch with glittering eyes the whole world around you because the greatest secrets are always hidden in the most unlikely places. Those who don’t believe in magic will never find it,” — Roald Dahl.

The eyes of children are always full of wonder at the Lord’s creations, excited to be alive with life, knowing there is magic to be found. It’s so hard to hold on to the magic of childhood as the responsible of life and family take over. We have a hard time finding time to “stop and smell the roses.” Life is full of wonder and beauty and if you don’t believe in magic you’ll never find it.

God doens’t want us to just exist in this world. He wants us to experience life with joy and wonder. Proverbs 8:35 reads, “For whoever find me finds life and obtains favor from the Lord.” Life is more meaningful when we worship God. God wants us to be servants for his faith in our life and in our work. Life doesn’t have to be hard, we make it so when we loose our faith and hope in tomorrow. Life is glorious and we should embrace and experience every moment.

We can recapture the glittery eyes of childhood when we take time to see the beauty in the world. We believe in the extra ordinary and we’ll see it right where we are, in the fall landscape, in the sunsets, in the magical curiosity of our grandchildren’s eyes. Life can be full of magical moments but we have to believe and have faith to be blessed with these moments. We need to open our eyes to all the daily wonders from God. God is good and his goodness surrounds us. He holds the whole wondrous world in his hands.

“The very best gift… is that anyone can experience those unexpected twinkles of joy that make a magical moment. At these moments, you feel true, deep joy because of a great new insight, a beautiful prospect, or a glimpse into the radiance of another soul. They are the magic moments when life seems better than you ever realized.” — Richard M. Eyre
