A storm’s darkness shows us God’s light…

“If you can dance like raindrops there will always be sunshine,” Curtis Tyrone Jones. Love this quote and it described my morning. Drove home from Peachtree City this morning in the rain but my little car Theodosia was full of of warm sunshine and happy memories from visiting my grandchildren. Weren’t any clouds on my horizon, no rain on my parade of happiness. First time I had used the windshield wipers since I bought the car. I blew the horn when I rode past Shady Oaks, had the pedal to the metal so they wouldn’t try to catch me.

These three beautiful blessings keep my horizon full of rainbows!

The sky was beautifully overcast in tones of vanilla and grey. The silver raindrops were a polka dotting musical on my windshield, the car tires soloists as I drove through water on the road. Theodosia was dancing in the rain towards my sweet home in Alabama.

We have to learn to dance in the rain. We don’t wait for life’s unpleasantness to go away. We don’t let circumstances determine our path. We step out boldly in the showers of life with a positive attitude knowing God’s loving umbrella of grace is covering us. God will help us with the challenges of rainy days.

In biblical scripture rain is called a blessing after a drought, a symbol of God’s love spreading over the world, and a flood that washed the world’s sins away. God puts storms in our lives to teach us to be grateful and thankful. No matter how heavy the rain is in our lives, the Bible says in Thessalonians to “give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”

God wants us to be obedient and trust in our faith and prayers even when it’s inconvenient. James 1:2-4 says, “Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.”

God is so good and his umbrella of faithfulness will always protect us in storms. You let your faith waiver, you’re going to get wet.

“Prayer is asking for rain and faith is carrying the umbrella.” — Barbara Johnson
