Heard this quote on tv last night and it’s been hanging around in my mind since. “Always do what you can but leave room for a miracle.” Guess that’s God speaking, telling us to never give up on our prayers. We all need to have enough faith to leave room for a miracle, to keep on praying, to trust in God’s timing.
Been sitting in the porch swing on this glorious day thinking about miracles. Miracles happen every day, some we see, some we don’t. The first miracle I think of is the sun rising up so beautifully each day and the sun setting with magnificence each evening. Just waking up with breath for another day is a miracle in itself. And all these little brown acorns, pinging loudly on the tin roof next door, grow into magnificent oaks that shade the ground and grow perches for the birds, and nesting branches for the squirrels. The miracles of the birds’ flights. Every day is loaded with the miraculous.
Miracles in my life — a bone tumor in my arm as a teenager that was benign so my arm didn’t have to be amputated, life-threatening illnesses of my grandson and my nephew that were overcome with medical miracles and prayers, my oldest brother overcoming prostate cancer, my husband living long enough for me to race to his bedside in the hospital to hold his hand as he left this earth. There are many more and I’m blessed by them.
Miracles aren’t always big loud productions. We miss miracles in our every day life because we’re looking for miracles with fireworks and marching bands. Being grateful helps us see the miracles as they play out in our lives. Hebrews 2:4 reads, “God confirms miracles through signs, wonders, and miracles, and by distributing gifts of the Holy Spirit.”
Matthew 17:20 says, “Because of your little faith, for truly, I say to you, if you have faith like a grain of mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will.” Even a tiny bit of faith in God is enough to produce a miracle. Any obstacle in our path can be moved through our faith and unwavering trust in God.
