“Always have something beautiful in sight…”

“Always have something beautiful in sight even if it’s a daisy in the jelly glass.”

“If your day is hemmed in prayer, it is less likely to become unraveled.” Cynthia Lewis. I love that thought. Once a day gets unraveled it’s hard to get back on track. Today was D day for me and the dentist visit went well. Have to have to two implants to hold a new bridge in place. Will take six months but by Christmas I’ll be chomping down on candy canes. Dr. Towers and his assistant were so kind to me. Not dreading my forthcoming dentist visits now. Anybody have any money tree seeds send them my way! Been looking through Chief’s seed catalogs and can’t find them.

I think my day today was bordered and framed by prayer. The best way to prevent stress and put some structure in our day is to begin the day in prayer, intentionally hemming the day in faith, letting God ground us spiritually. Prayer starts the day on a positive note, anchors the day in faith, and brings us a sense of peace through our connection to God. God’s guidance and wisdom help us face difficulties and challenges that are part of our every day lives. Put those worries on God’s shoulder and let him carry the weight.

I’m enjoying all the sunflower blooms around the bird feeders as I perch in the swing and ponder this afternoon. The sunflowers grew from seed the birds spilled from the bird feeders. Some of the sunflower blooms are deformed with only a few yellow petals, some blooms are wide open and full of petals, some blooms tightly shut with only a petal or two peaking out but all so beautiful gathered together, a small glorious garden of bright yellow sunshine under the old water oak. I’ve tried to capture the garden in photographs but the photos just don’t capture the garden’s soul.

H Jackson Brown Junior said, “Always have something beautiful in sight even if it’s just a daisy in the jelly glass.” If we look hard enough we can find beauty in every day. I think the simple things in life are the best gifts. I’d love to have Chief bring me one more wildflower bouquet gathered with turnip green blossoms. I have a small sunflower in a jelly glass in my kitchen window, a little bit of God’s sunshine in my kitchen.

Another day is winding down. The sun is a huge bright ball of white light rolling down a horizon colored in melted vanilla ice cream clouds. The cardinals are quiet on the feeders, enjoying their last bites of supper. The porch is getting cooler as the sun goes behind the old magnolias across the street. I love this magical part of the day, the gloaming, the romantic mystical twilight, the time right before the day goes dark. The lightning bugs are getting ready to dance to the night music symphonies, twinkling through the darkness. “Twilight, again. Another ending. No matter how perfect the day is, it always has to end,” Stephanie Meyer.

“At the end of the day, what really matters is that your loved ones are well, you’ve done your best, and that you’re thankful for all you have.” — Unknown
