Life is a gift none of us earn…
Sat out on the porch this morning. It’s just so humid! I’ve watered my vegetables and flowers and washed out the bird baths and filled them up with fresh water and my clothes are wringing wet. My eyes are burning from the sweat dripping down my face. I feel for all the outdoor workers, I…

Open the bloom of your heart…
From my archives — Ate breakfast on the porch this morning sitting in the swing, surveying my little world. Had a soft wind chime symphony with a few cicada solos. So pretty outside, azure blue sky, lots of fluffy cotton ball clouds, bleached white on their rounded tops, light gray on their bottoms flushed with…

Love the life you live…
Beautiful day today the Lord has made. Father Sky colored his morning sky blue with fluffy white clouds. Later he picked up his pastels again and sketched purple and gray thunderstorm clouds, cooled the air down to the seventies, clapped some thunder and added a few lightning bolts, but only let a few sprinkles of…

What a gift it is to be alive…
You could not deny summer today, hot and humid, but glorious with all the song bird symphonies and the dance recitals of the butterflies. I watered all the flowers and vegetables, giving them a good soaking. Cleaned the bird baths and pushed them further into the shade. I’m still hung up on Emerson quotes. Love…

Happy Birthday, America…
Happy 248th birthday to America, the wondrous and glorious slice of heaven I call home. We are so fortunate to live in a free country. And I’m so grateful for my small town American life. Enjoyed swimming at baby brother’s farm this afternoon and we had delicious barbecued ribs with all the trimmings for supper.…

“The butterfly teaches us that beauty blooms after the struggle…”
Another hot Southern summer day, a scorcher but so pretty with the bright blue sky and the white fluffy clouds. I filled up the bird feeders this morning and soon as I got back to the porch Fatty the squirrel was hanging upside down raking sunflower seeds in his mouth lickety-split. I got the cooking…

“The age of a woman doesn’t mean a thing…”
Sat on the porch this morning eating my bagel and fruit and it was marvelous, darlings! Seventy-six degrees with overcast sky the color of melted vanilla ice cream, birds all over the yard singing their morning symphonies, squirrels running around the oak tree trunk, my flowers all blooming in a riot of colors, not closing…

“Twilight and evening bell, and after that the dark…”
Sat on the porch this morning pondering and watching the birds. The day is beginning beautifully, deep blue sky canvas dotted with bleached fluffy white clouds. A gentle cooling breeze, too soft to even ping the wind chimes, and the box fan are making the porch pondering pleasant. I love sitting here. I hope before…

Life isn’t meant to be easy, it’s meant to be lived…
Another beautiful day today but still a scorcher. I got up and headed outside to walk Penelope and realized I had both my shirt and my shorts on backwards! Not even going to try to figure out what that might mean. At this stage in my life it doesn’t really matter, I guess. I filled…
