Memories travel a dirt road…
Another rerun of a favorite blog — I’ll always love the memories of my dirt roads… Been pondering on the front porch this morning. Actually ate my breakfast on the porch sitting in the swing. First time I’ve done that in a long time. Penelope and I have been watching the cardinals and titmouses on…

Three brothers, never wanted a sister!
Another favorite rerun… Sitting on the porch today pondering about the blue sky of fall. Bright blue and no clouds. Scientists blame this on less humidity as the air gets cooler. Clouds don’t form easily so we get a clear view of the sky. I love these days. My old house feels like she’s air…

A gentle man and a gentleman…
My granddaughter is visiting this week and we’re having some cousin fun with my nieces. Going to rerun some of my favorite blogs so I can devote myself to her this week. Happy reading! New blogs start Friday morning. Back home today, pondering in the swing. The sky is maya blue as I sit down…

Accept each day as it comes…
Dark cerulean blue sky this morning punctuated with bleached fluffy white clouds. Crystal clear sunshine. Soft breeze caressing the wind chimes, my box fan humming in the background. Perfect Saturday for porch pondering. Even the birds are quiet. I’ve been hearing a baby bird symphony some mornings but I can’t find the nest. The baby’s…

“For each storm cloud, a rainbow…”
Ate my toast with cherry jam sitting in the porch swing this morning. Drank my coffee from a Starbucks’ South Carolina mug and remembered all the happy moments from the trip Chief and I took to Hilton Head with the grandchildren. The porch was so pleasant, a cool breeze lightly pinging the wind chimes. The…

There is always beauty in a storm…
Ate breakfast in the swing this morning watching the fighting finches and the faithful cardinals. The most beautiful dove has been in my yard today. Her gray coloring matches the clouds in the sky. She’s an Eurasian dove, has a black kerchief band around her neck, dressed in a feather color chart of light grays…

Birds sing after a storm…
Ate a tomato sandwich for breakfast while I pondered in the porch swing this morning. Little odd to eat that, I know, but I’ve been anticipating eating that tomato for several days. That plant is pretty pitiful, a big stalk and few branches, but it’s covered in tomatoes. The tomato was delicious. I picked two…

The glory of gardening…
Pondered in the swing this morning eating my bagel. The bagel was spread with delicious cherry preserves from the Mercier Family Orchard market store in Blue Ridge, Ga. So very delicious! Mercier Orchard started in 1943 and is celebrating 80 years of harvests, four generations of their family. What a great tradition for their family.…

There’s no place like home…
I’m back home to my front porch swing and bird friends. Man, it was hot out today. Didn’t sit in the swing and ponder because it was just too humid and too hot. I’ve gotten spoiled to air conditioning on my trip. All the bird feeders were empty and I sweated out my clothes filling…

Life’s simple pleasures…
Eating my bagel and fruit on the porch of the cabin in Blue Ridge. The sun rose outside my porch door this morning turning the clouds beautiful shades of pink and orange. Have heard roosters crowing, pileated woodpeckers calling their mates, crows and blue jays cawing in the distance, and I’ve seen buzzards circling over…
