“In the stillness of rain, the soul finds peace, a moment to breathe, and a chance to remember all the beauty in simplicity,” Malcolm Calnan. What a beautiful way to describe a rainy day. I love a rainy day. I’m sitting in my lady den, watching the trees and bamboo take their silver showers. The rain hasn’t been heavy enough to deter the songbirds. I can see them flittering around the feeders and I can hear their beautiful symphonies.
“Like the voice of a bird singing in the rain, let grateful memory survive in the hour of darkness,” Robert Louis Stevenson. Even in the face of adversity the little songbirds sing of hope and we have our blessed memories in dark days to offer us comfort. The rain is cleansing and comforting, washing away our troubles, bringing hope of new beginnings.
“So let the rain wash worries away, in its embrace, find peace today, For in its song, we find release, in whispers of rain, find inner peace.” — RaviShakila
Mother Nature is blowing a heavy breeze this afternoon as the silver raindrops fall from the heavens. When the earth is still the songbirds’ songs ring out and mingle with the wind chimes’ pings. The rain has begun again, whispering and dancing on my tomato plants’ leaves. The wind is cool and heavy now at dusk, bending the bamboo canes, dancing with the water oaks’ branches. A rainy day gives us pause to remember all the beauty and simplicity of life.
Bible scripture uses rain imagery to symbolize God’s blessings and our spiritual renewal. Isaiah 45:8 states, “You heavens above, rain down my righteousness; let the clouds shower it down. Let the earth open wide, let salvation spring up, let righteousness flourish with it; I, the Lord, have created it.” As we seek God in our lives, God rains his righteousness down as blessings.
God doesn’t want us to question his power. He wants us to “sow righteousness” and “reap mercy” and live a righteous life, actively seeking his favor and blessings. Proverbs 21:21 states that “Whoever pursues righteousness and loving-kindness will find life, righteousness, and honor.” When we live for the Lord and follow his teachings, we’ll experience a fulfilling life with both spiritual and earthly blessings.
