He has made everything beautiful in its time…

The skies are deep Caribbean blue this morning, such a pretty contrast against the spring green trees with their newly born leaves. I love this spring quote by Sitting Bull. “Behold, my friends, the spring is come; the earth has gladly received the embraces of the sun, and we shall soon see the results of their love.” Such a beautiful primitive thought. I think we can all see a spiritual connection to spring as the earth is reborn from the warmth of the sun. I saw a pretty little spring group of wild flowers in my yard this morning, deep yellow blossoms turned up to the sky worshipping the sun’s rays. Audra Foveo writes, “If you’ve never been thrilled to the very edges of your soul by a flower in spring bloom, maybe your soul has never been in bloom.” I’m always thrilled by the tiny colorful wildflowers of spring and will be the most thrilled when I see a tomato blossom.

I’m sitting in the porch swing after supper watching Mother Nature watercolor the horizon with brush strokes in shades of wildflower honey. Looks like Father Sky created the clouds tonight with his blue and pink and purple and grey pastels, scrubbing the chalk across the sky, using his finger to smudge the colors, so beautifully highlighted in several places by the sun’s rays. As the sun gets ready for the pageant of sunset, she puts her warm lips on the top of the trees at the end of the street and kisses their branches with a golden light goodnight.

I think we can renew our faith in this spring as we see God’s blush of grace in the beautiful flowers and the bright yellow sunshine. As the earth awakens from the coolness of winter, spring bursts forth in the glorious colors of God’s watercolor palette. Isaiah 61:11 reads, “For as the soil makes the sprout come up and a garden causes seeds to grow, so the Sovereign Lord will make righteousness and praise spring up before all nations.” Song of Solomon heralds spring, “The flowers appear on the earth, the time of pruning the vines has come, and the song of the turtledove is heard in our land.”

In the glory of spring God sends us a message of hope reminding us he can bring new beginnings from life’s trials, bringing beauty and light to our darkness. Spring also reminds us of resurrection as God brings life after death as the flowers bloom and the trees put on their coats of green leaves. We trust in the spring that God can make things new. We can throw off our winter regrets and with our trust and faith in God begin a new season of spiritual growth. Scripture in Deuteronomy reads, “Let my teaching fall like rain and my words descend like dew, like showers on new grass, like abundant rain on tender plants.” Deuteronomy 11:13-14 states, “So if you faithfully obey the commands I am giving you today—to love the Lord your God and to serve him with all your heart and with all your soul — then I will send rain on your land in its season, both autumn and spring rains, so that you may gather in your grain, new wine and olive oil.”

Shakespeare wrote, “April hath put a spirit of youth in everything.” Spring is so beautiful in its green leafing of the trees and the glorious colors of the blooming trees and flowers. God has blessed us with the earth’s rebirth. We should let spring inspire us to renew our faith, letting our faith bloom by pledging to bring the warmth and light of God’s love into the darkness of others.
